The Meaning of Opportunity in the Internationalisation Process: Notes Towards a Concept of Entrepreneurial Internationalisation

ABSTRACT. This paper reviews the theories on internationalisation processes of a firm and attempts to develop a concept of entrepreneurial mode of internationalisation, aiming to make the first steps towards the understanding of internationalisation of firms from the perspective of opportunity creation. The paper moves away from the current international business discipline, dominated by the behavioural and economic schools, and adopts a view of internationalisation as a process of discovery.
