Development of Environmental Management in Ukrainian Enterprises of Forestry Industry

ABSTRACT. The eighties of twentieth century were notable for awareness of the need to prevent the harmful results of production activity for environment. European industrial enterprises improve environment treatment in order to change the environmental conditions, improve the competitiveness, and get more clients. In the Ukraine the situation differs. In the article it is analysed today's ecological conditions in the Ukraine, in particular in Lugansk region. The conditions of forest-based industries in the Ukraine are briefly characterized.

Existing approaches and methods of environmental protection in the Ukraine come to light and it is substantiated the necessity of an essentially new approach, such as environmental management in the Ukrainian enterprises of the industry. The author proposed instruments such as environmental product life cycle planning and estimation of environment management organization, which are new to the Ukrainian enterprises. These instruments supply the enterprises top management with analytical information for working out managing decisions directed on environment management perfection, improvement of enterprises competitiveness.
