SEARCHING FOR GOODWILL INDICATORS: EMPHASIS ON EMERGING MARKETS7
Pavol Kral, Ivana Podhorska, Anna Kotaskova, Anna Siekelova

ABSTRACT. The issue of company goodwill is an interdisciplinary question; its indicators can be found in financial management, economics, law, marketing, sociology, etc. Their identification is still a challenge; however, it can lead to effective management. The main aim of the paper is to determine company goodwill indicators in the conditions of emerging markets. Especially, paper works with data from three countries in 2018: Slovak Republic (110,381 companies), Czech Republic (9,287 companies) and Romania (9,082 companies). The residual income method is used as the basic method for quantifying the value of goodwill. For searching its indicators regression analysis is used. Along with regression, Gauss-Mark assumptions are also tested. In Slovak Republic 6 statistically significant indicators of goodwill were discovered (model variability 68.3%), in the Czech Republic ‒6 variables (model variability 58.4 %), in Romania ‒7 variables (model variability 70.6%). Gauss-Mark assumptions were also fulfilled.
