A STUDY ON THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL CULTURE OF THE GUANGDONG-HONG KONG-MACAO GREATER BAY AREA - TAKING JIANGMEN BINJIANG NEW AREA AS AN EXAMPLE9

ABSTRACT. The recent sustainable development trend brings in a challenge for promoting local culture. Taking the sustainable development of local culture in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao as an example, this research adopts the methods of field investigation, literature research and case study to develop the research framework and indicators and conduct data analysis. It is found that these four dimensions (historical sites, human culture, natural landscape, ecological environment) and their components directly affect the sustainable development of the local culture. The research shows that the foundation and sustainable driving force of local cultural development should be balanced and promoted in coordination. This study aims to enrich the theory of sustainable development of local culture. It also provides practical implications for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area and other similar areas across the world .
