Jerzy Niemczyk, Rafal Trzaska, Kamil Borowski, Piotr Karolczak

ABSTRACT. In the article, the authors approach the research problem related to the identification of the source of economic efficiency of enterprises that operate under the conditions of Industry 4.0. There is a research gap in the literature related to the lack of indication of the main source of economic efficiency of companies working in such an economy. The authors of this article point to scalability primarily associated with economies of scale as the main economic rent of the Industry 4.0 paradigm. The article presents the results of research. The purpose of this research was to describe scalability, link it to the features of Industry 4.0, indicate its basic manifestations, and provide recommendations for companies, which would like to implement such solutions. The authors of the article volunteer the hypothesis that the main economic rent obtained because of revolution 4.0 is the rent derived from the economies of scale and the curve of experience - as Scalability 4.0.
