COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES OF THE NETWORK LEADER1

ABSTRACT. The achievements of contemporary leaders are evaluated through the prism of the success of their organisation. The achievement of this success consists of a number of factors, among which one can indicate: an idea for running a business, adjusting the offer to the needs of clients, introducing innovations, and possessing and applying appropriate resources and skills. Coordinating these factors requires the leaders to use appropriate competencies and their continuous development. The aim of this article is to broaden the knowledge of the network leader"s competencies, skills, alongside with competencies of those network leaders who operate in start-ups to emphasize their importance in the development of modern organisations in the network environment. The authors present the results of pilot studies in order to formulate research hypotheses for further research on the directions and evolution of these competencies .
