ABSTRACT. Tourism is an activity present in each country's economy and has as a distinct feature the seasonal evolution. The aim of this paper is to analyse seasonality in the Romanian tourism activity, compared to the average seasonality registered in the EU member states. In our quantitative research, we processed a database consisting of the monthly values of the "number of overnight stays" indicator, from January 2005 to December 2016, using the mobile averages method, the Struck coefficient and the EViews 5 program. The results obtained are as follows: the assessment of the intensity and dynamics of seasonality in Romanian tourism activities, its positioning compared to the EU average, the identification of some specific aspects of the impact that resident and non-resident tourists have in the occurrences of seasonality in Romanian tourism activities, compared to the average trend in the EU countries  .

KEYWORDS: number of overnight stays, tourism seasonality, seasonality indicators, Struck coefficient, concentration.
