Setting Up New Firms as an Opportunity to Reduce Unemployment

ABSTRACT. The main aim of the present article is to analyse if financial support granted to the unemployed to start business activity is used effectively. The first part is based on the literature on the subject and presents active methods for combating unemployment with special reference to the role of financial resources allocated for setting up new firms and raised from national budget. The second part of the article is a synthetic analysis of the aforementioned issues and based on, among other things, reports published by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy as well as institutions dealing with public opinion research.
