Green jobs in the USA and the EU – conclusions for Poland
Tomasz Bernat

ABSTRACT. Sustainable growth in the field of economy is one of the vital ideas contained in economic policies adopted around the world. One way of achieving this objective is to create green jobs. These are such positions that are directly or indirectly connected to activities of eco-friendly companies. However, the research devoted to them lacks any precise definition of the term itself and its range still remains disputable as well as the exact number of such jobs existing nowadays and predicted for the future. Given such a background, the present work aims to indicate the growth trends in the most developed economies, namely the economies of the USA and the EU.

The conclusions drawn will be applied to analyze Poland’s economy and the attempt to estimate the number of green jobs in the country will be made. The main hypothesis of the present work sounds: Poland is the country, where green jobs are created equally frequently as in the other EU states and in the USA.

KEYWORDS: sustainable growth, green jobs.
