Polish Households in the New Century – Stagnation or Change?

ABSTRACT. In the period of last twenty years, Polish households were exposed to market rules and faced socio-economic transformation results and Poland’s accession with the EU. It changed their character and manner of performance on the market and caused changes in consumption area. National statistics enable to identify the nature of changes in households’ subjective structure and the changes in personal (individual) consumption level and structure. In the article, the results of analysis regarding changes in consumption structure of Polish households and consumption determinants in years 2000-2008 will be discussed, including some references to a more earlier period as well.
