The Influence of Globalization on the Restructuring Process of the Polish Shipbuilding Industry: Situational Analysis
Leonard Henryk Rozenberg, Leon Leszek Dorozik

ABSTRACT. Recent years have shown that the shipbuilding industry in Europe is on the verge of bankruptcy. The authors point to the root causes of this situation and analyze the current situation. The article also points out that although the typical financial analysis indicates the lack of economic efficiency of shipyard production, is the economic approach (taking into account the social income and costs) indicates that the production of shipbuilding is an opportunity for many jobs, as well as the pacemaker of pro-innovative and pro-environmental activities. Are also shown weaknesses of European law, which does not take into account the liquidation of the shipyard production of many thousands of jobs in co-operation and activities in the field of engineering design.
