International Management Systems and its Implementation Issues in Latvia’s Agri-food Sector

ABSTRACT. The paper analyzed the concepts of quality and safety of food; international management systems and standards; implementation issues of international management standards in Latvia, particularly in the agri-food sector. An overview and analysis of different management systems for assuring: food quality and safety, environment, workers health and safety; and international standards of different management systems have given. The implementation issues of these international standards and certification in accordance of them in Latvia int. al. Latvia’s agri-food sector have been analyzed. The results of enforcement of the mandatory measures for environment protection: receiving permissions for polluting activities in Latvia’s agri-food sector have evaluated.
