About Author
Kristina Toming
, is a PhD student at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA), University of Tartu (Estonia), specializing in research on Estonian food processing industry’s competitiveness on domestic and export markets within the context of the EU expansion. She has participated in various research projects at University of Tartu, such as “Strategies of sustainable and balanced growth in Estonia’s accession to the European Union” (2003–2007), “Possible Instruments of Economic Policy for Harmonisation of Prices of Estonian Agricultural Products with EU prices” (2001), “Impact of Cancelling the Free Trade Agreements with Latvia, Lithuania and the Ukraine on Estonian Economy” (2000), “Competitiveness of Estonian industry in integration with the European Union” (1999-2003). In connection with these projects, the author has written numerous papers on the impact of the EU integration on the agricultural and food sector in Estonia. During 2000-2006, Kristina Toming worked as a research fellow at the FEBA, where she also conducts various courses at Bachelor and Master level. Kristina Toming has participated in the Advanced Studies Program in International Economic Policy Research at the Kiel Institute of World Economics (2001-2002) and in numerous special courses abroad. During the period 2003-2005, Kristina Toming has been a visiting PhD student at the Department of Economics at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Denmark for several times.
