Role of Human Capital in Education for Sustainable Development: The Case of Poland

ABSTRACT. In the European Union, including Poland, the concept of sustainable development is in force, and its implementing depends on many different factors, including human capital and level of ecological knowledge which, in turn, depends on the quality of ecological education. Therefore, this article introduces the following:

  • role of human capital in sustainable development,
  • characteristics of ecological education, the methods of popularizing and controlling,
  • interrelation between ecological education and available information on the natural environmental,
  • level of ecological education in higher education in Poland.
