Transition Leadership in a Volatile Business Environment: A Case Study of Institutional and Business Context Change
Joseph A. Ilacqua, Irina Akhramenko

ABSTRACT. This case study examines the personal and organisational philosophies, skills, and capabilities of business leader as well as the challenges faced in the transition context of Belarus. Economic and business transition has concentrated in time and space developments that other nations have come through over a much longer period. While the process takes on its own features for every country some common traits and tendencies are obvious. Transition leaders require effectiveness that advances a shift in the way achievement is perceived in the organisation and in the broader community. Transition further requires leadership that promotes the development of new organisational context concordant with market practices within the entrenched domestic economic and political cultural. To be able to lead successfully in transition there must also be internal change for organisational leaders themselves. Leaders must be most competent in addressing all the shifting and limiting boundaries of an evolving market environment.
